Tully Rinckey PLLC, a successful full-service law firm with ten offices nationwide is seeking a Media Relations Marketing Associate to join our team. While the firm continues to build its presence in the legal market, the Media Relations Associate is responsible for the execution of aggressive public relations and marketing programs reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer located in Albany, NY.  This position involves working with the firm’s attorneys and marketing staff to develop strategic public relations, business development and marketing plans to achieve new business revenue and build the firm’s practice areas.


Day to day activities entail working in an extremely fast paced environment marketing complex areas of law. The ideal candidate will be responsible for generating media placements for the firm and its attorneys as well as generating new business revenue due to his/her efforts.


Job Duties:


  • Create and implement strategic communications plans that will garner positive media attention for the firm. This will entail developing ideas, writing press releases and pitching story ideas to local and national media outlets.
  • Assess long term organizational goals and development media relations strategies that align with business development efforts.
  • Actively seek creative media placement opportunities.
  • Garner national and local media attention on the company’s service areas and capabilities of our executive team.
  • Write press releases and pitch media outlets.
  • Pitch our company’s executives and attorneys on various speaking initiatives.
  • Provide media coaching and advisement to senior leaders and attorneys within the company.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with media agencies and contacts. Develop long term relationships with members of the media.
  • Work with marketing team to effectively communicate initiatives on platforms such as website, newsletters, etc.
  • Achieve media placements that will be read by our target demographic.
  • Oversee and develop community relations initiatives such as check presentations, donations and ribbon cuttings.
  • Provide crisis communications advisement and counsel to firm management and clients.


Qualifications and Experience:


  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must have agency related media relations experience, journalism experience or have served in a public relations role at a company.
  • Must be a self-starter, pro-active and able to take the lead on tasks with minimal direction.
  • Experience managing media relations distribution databases, tracking systems, and targeting databases preferred.
  • Attention to detail, ability to work individually and multi task in a fast paced environment as well as work in a team environment.
  • Must possess very strong writing skills and have the ability to grasp and interpret legal concepts.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytic and organizational skills.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience in a law firm is not required.
